1. Skin Cancer
Skin growths and lumps are common in dogs and not all are cancerous. Your vet will need to make a proper diagnosis because it’s difficult to spot what type of growth your dog has. When caught early, many dog skin cancers are fully treatable.
2. Skin Allergies
Many dogs suffer from allergic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. The most common causes are environmental factors, food, flea bites, etc. Signs include frequent itching, inflamed skin, rashes, hives, bumps on the skin, and possible hair loss.
3. Ringworm
Ringworm, caused by a few different fungi, signs include roughly circular areas of hair loss and red, inflamed, or scabby skin that’s not usually itchy. Highly contagious, the fungus can spread to other areas of the body so prompt vet care is essential to keep it from spreading to others.
