Give Your Pup Spa Day Makeover:

Birthdays are meant for pampering. It’s an important day, and your dog must look and feel their best at their birthday party. Dog fur can be all over the place, making your pooch uncomfortable. Book an appointment with a stylist to groom your pet. Let them have a nice spa day, a nice haircut, and a relaxing massage. Dress your pooch in their favorite clothes (we have tons of TOO CUTE options).  

 

Throw a party:

Who says birthday parties are just for humans? Celebrate your dog’s birthday by throwing a party with food and games (for all manner of guests), decorations, and (of course) pet-safe party hats. You’ll want to provide supervision at all times. Take photos of your pup with party guests, and remember to reward the birthday boy(or)girl with presents, like a brand-new toy or outfit! For a fun twist on a birthday card, have party guests — both human and animal — stamp their ‘paws’ on a piece of poster board.

 

Choose The Perfect Present:

It’s that time of the year again! It’s your turn to get your dog's birthday gifts. What’s a birthday without a perfect present? If your pooch has a favorite toy, get them a brand new one, whether it be a chew toy or even a tennis ball. Wrap up the gift and let your dog have the opportunity to open it.

What better way to spoil your furry friend than with a delicious birthday cake made with a dog-friendly, natural, and gluten-free recipe? Don’t forget to decorate it with their favorite toppings, and in no time, you will see that your pup has baked a smile.

This dog cake is packed full of great ingredients, including peanut butter, applesauce, and pumpkin. It comes together and bakes up just like any other cake, but is perfect for your pets. The optional frosting is made from peanut butter and yogurt.

 

:INGREDIENTS:

 

CAKE

1 cup flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/8 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup natural peanut butter Do NOT use a peanut butter with Xylitol (also called birch sugar) as it's dangerous to dogs. Check ingredients!

1/2 cup applesauce go with plain, unsweetened

1/2 cup pumpkin puree make sure you use pure pumpkin, not canned pumpkin pie mix

1 egg

 

FROSTING

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/4 cup peanut butter

 

 

:INSTRUCTIONS:

CAKE

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine flour and baking soda.

In a separate bowl mix together vegetable oil, peanut butter, applesauce, and pumpkin puree. Once combined, mix in the egg and mix until combined.

Combine wet and dry ingredients and stir until combined.

Pour the mixture into an 8" round pan (a square pan can also be used) that has been greased with oil.

Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake springs back when pressed lightly.

Allow cooling on a wire rack prior to removing from the pan.

After cooling, add frosting if desired.

 

FROSTING

Mix Greek yogurt and peanut butter until well combined. Spread over cake. If not serving immediately, store it in the refrigerator.
